For two days Brussels housed hundreds of investigative journalists that attended the European Investigative Journalism Conference 2008, organised by the VVOJ. The conference offered a packed programme of panel sessions, management tracks and computer classes. De Vereniging van Onderzoeksjournalisten (VVOJ) heeft zich samen met andere journalistieke en mediaorganisaties in een gezamenlijke brief uitgesproken tegen voorstellen om de Wet open overheid (Woo) vergaand aan te passen. Volgens deze organisaties zijn deze suggesties voorbarig, verontrustend en prematuur, zeker nu de wet nog maar enkele jaren van kracht is en lopende onderzoeken en evaluaties nog niet zijn afgerond.
